What is arm lift?
Brachioplasty, or arm lift, is a surgical procedure that helps effectively remove excess skin from the underarm nearly to the elbow. Most of the time this excess skin stems from the natural ageing process or major weight loss. During the procedure, the surgeon tightens loose skin and subcutaneous tissues.
Get the best results possible
The size of the incision depends on the scope of the sagging skin on your arms. Sometimes a short incision in the armpit will get the job done, while some cases will require an incision stretching along the inside of the arm, sometimes as far as the forearm. The surgeon may also recommend a combination of liposuction in the arms to achieve the best results. Relatively minor sagging may be resolvable with liposuction along, which can sometimes stimulate elasticity in the subcutaneous tissues as it heals, leaving the arms both slimmer and firmer.
Get an experienced surgeon
Arm lift is not one of the most frequent aesthetic procedures, making it all the more important to choose a surgeon who has performed many successful arm lifts. What to expect
Before the surgery
For two weeks before the procedure avoid aspirin and other blood thinners. Minimise alcohol consumption and smoking for a few days before the procedure. Ideally you should stop smoking completely. You do not have to stop taking hormonal contraception before the procedure.
During the surgery
Arm lift takes place under full anaesthesia and requires an inpatient stay afterwards. The surgeon removes sagging skin and subcutaneous tissue and tightens the skin on the arms. If performing liposuction at the same time, the surgeon makes small incisions into the subcutaneous tissue, inserts liposuction cannulas, and suctions out excess fat. You can take a sedative before the procedure begins, if you wish.
Post-operation
Post-operative care is highly important after arm lift and has a fundamental impact on achieving satisfactory results. You should rest as much as possible for the first few days. Pain can be managed with painkillers. Swelling and haematomas usually subside within seven to 10 days. Patients should avoid physical activity for at least two weeks.
Just-in-case insurance
The risk of complications arising during or after the procedure is very low. Choosing the right surgeon with our help is the best thing you can do to get excellent results. Still, no surgeon in the world can guarantee no complications will ever occur. Taking out insurance on an operation is a logical step, and more and more patients today are choosing to insure their aesthetic operation. We will be glad to help you with that as well. Just say the word.

We will be happy to tell you the exact price for your brachioplasty. The price always includes consultation with a plastic surgeon, pre-op examination, the appropriate anaesthesia, the procedure itself, and hospitalisation.
Yes, most patients will need to stay one or two days.
Yes, some patients choose this option if they are sensitive or have bad experience with procedures performed under local anaesthesia. If that is your case, we are happy to work with you and plan with the surgeon accordingly.
That depends on the nature and scope of procedures performed. Light physical exertion will normally need to wait about three weeks. Most patients return to work after two weeks.
That depends on the nature and scope of procedures performed. Typically strenuous movement, exercise, strength training and even heavy cleaning will need to wait at least two months.
This procedure has no age limit, so it will mainly depend on the client’s health and physical condition.
The size of the incision depends on the scope of the sagging skin on your arms. Sometimes a short incision in the armpit will get the job done, while more extensive cases will require an incision stretching along the inside of the arm, sometimes as far as the forearm. Occasionally we need to extend the incision from the underarm to the ribcage to address excess skin on the back. Your surgeon will go over everything with you at the clinical examination.
The results are long-term and no more effective method of arm lift currently exists. It is important to remember, however, that we cannot stop the ageing process entirely and physical changes may appear after some time. Following all the surgeon’s recommendations is the best way to make sure you heal well, get the results you want and have them last as long as possible.
