What is fat transfer buttocks augmentation?
Also known as the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), fat transfer buttocks augmentation is a procedure in which a plastic surgeon performs liposuction to remove fat from certain parts of the body (such as the abdomen or thighs) and uses it to enhance the buttocks. The primary benefit of this technique is that it does not require any long incisions or foreign objects (implants) that could cause problems in a few years. Our clients also appreciate the side effect of slimming any problematic areas and the short recovery period.
BBL for every woman?
While this excellent technique has a number of advantages, it also has certain limitations. Fat transfer cannot add any amount of volume you like, since the subcutaneous tissue can only accept a certain amount of fat. This procedure is also only an option for clients with sufficient stores of fat to provide satisfactory results. That said, the vast majority of clients can achieve their desired results – a larger rear end and slimmer figure.
We will help you choose a top surgeon
Fat transfer augmentation methods require a plastic surgeon with specific experience in those procedures. This experience allows the surgeon to correctly gauge how much fat will be absorbed after the procedure and remain at the transfer site. It is also important that the clinic have the right equipment, methods and an experienced operating team. Tell us what you would like and we will be happy to connect you with trusted surgeons who can go over all the options for the procedure with you. What to expect
Before the operation
For two weeks before the operation avoid aspirin and other blood thinners. Discontinue hormonal contraception at least three weeks before the operation. Minimise alcohol consumption and smoking for a few days before the procedure. Ideally you should stop smoking completely.
During the operation
Buttocks augmentation requires a one-day stay at the clinic and takes place under general anaesthesia. You can take a sedative before the procedure begins, if you wish. The anaesthesiologist remains present during the entire procedure. The surgeon suctions fat from the chosen locations and then cleans it to remove any impurities before re-applying it to the buttocks through special cannulas.
You may experience extensive bruising on the buttocks, but this should subside after about two weeks. This method is less painful than implants and also requires a shorter recovery period. You will need to wear a compression garment for four weeks to improve healing. The surgeon will also recommend sleeping on your front for several weeks.

The risk of complications arising during or after the procedure is very low. Choosing the right surgeon with our help is the best thing you can do to get excellent results. Fat transfer buttocks augmentation offers permanent results, but do keep in mind that the transferred fat is still part of the body and will respond to fluctuations in weight. As long as you maintain a stable weight, the added fat should remain in place.
Your stable results usually appear within three to six months. About 30-40% of the fat will re-absorb over time, leaving 60-70% behind on average. It is impossible to predict the exact percentage that will be absorbed. Sometimes an additional transfer needs to be made to achieve the desired results. Following all the surgeon’s recommendations is the best way to make sure you heal well, get the results you want and have them last as long as possible.
Your surgeon will go over everything with you at the clinical examination. Generally speaking, this is considered a minimally invasive procedure because it does not involve large incisions. Clients should take care not to sit for too long after the procedure to give the buttocks time to recover. Surgeons recommend sleeping on the front for several weeks to allow as much fat to adhere as possible.
The surgeon will try to meet the client’s wishes as much as possible. In most cases the surgeon can transfer about 50-450 ml of fat to each side.
The surgeon will apply the fat mostly to the upper portion of the buttocks, reserving some to improve the shape and contours of other parts of the buttocks.
