What is breast lift?
Breast lift is a surgical procedure that leaves the breast volume the same. In other words, it does not involve enlargement or reduction. Instead, the surgeon focuses on the shape of your breasts while maintaining the same volume. After the procedure, your breasts will be symmetrical, firm and at the right height. The appearance and size of the areolas can be adjusted or inverted nipples corrected at the same time.
Breast lift with augmentation or without
Breast lift can be performed at the same time as augmentation or reduction in size. If you would like to have bigger breasts in addition to improving their shape, we recommend combining both procedures at the same time: breast lift with augmentation. This will let you avoid putting your body through two operations, cut the number of days off work, and of course cost much less money.
Size and scope of the procedure
Breast lift without augmentation is performed under general anaesthesia. The surgeon will choose the type of incision depending on the extent of the lift required and the nature of the procedure. Slight sagging might only require an incision around the areola. The most common procedure, however, is the “Lejour” incision, which can be expanded to include an incision in the crease under the breast (a T incision) when performing a reduction.

What to expect
1.Before the operation
For two weeks before the operation avoid aspirin and other blood thinners. Discontinue hormonal contraception at least three weeks before the operation. Minimise alcohol consumption and smoking for a few days before the procedure. Ideally you should stop smoking completely. If you are over 40, please go for a mammogram or ultrasound.
2.During the operation
Breast lift takes place under general anaesthesia and requires a one or two-day stay at the clinic. The anaesthesiologist remains present during the entire procedure. The surgeon will make an incision a few centimetres long, depending on the nature of the procedure required to perform the breast lift. You can take a sedative before the procedure begins, if you wish.
3.Post-operation
You may experience mild pain in the first few days, which can be easily managed with medication for pain relief. Keep to strict bed rest for the first week; you can return to work after two or three weeks depending on the type of work involved. You will need to wear a special wire-free compression bra for four to six weeks.

In most cases it depends on genetic predispositions and quality of the skin, mammary gland, etc. Over time the breasts may begin to sag again, but not to the extent that they did before the breast lift. A new procedure may not need to be as extensive as the first one. Following all the surgeon’s recommendations is the best way to make sure you heal well, get the results you want and have them last as long as possible.
Can I go for regular mammograms?
Yes, you definitely can. You can inform your doctor of your procedure before the examination.
Does breast lift increase the risk of cancer?
No connection has been proved between breast lift and cancer.
