Radical solution to obesity problems

Gastric bypass is a combined bariatric procedure that contributes to a significant reduction in the patient’s weight. It helps in two ways – it reduces the intake but also the absorption of food in organism. During the operation the surgeon shrinks the stomach and creates a new connection between the stomach and the small intestine. Thanks to this part of the original digestive tract is bridged through which food no longer passes, only digestive juices. The patient thus gets a feeling of fullness sooner and the body absorbs fewer calories. According to international standards, there is an indication from a body mass index (BMI) of 40 kg / m². If there are already obesity-dependent secondary diseases, an operation can take place from a BMI of 35 kg / m². If you’re considering surgery we will be happy to advise you to choose the best expert who will provide you with the highest quality care. The procedure takes place under general anesthesia and lasts approximately 2 hours.

Just-in-case insurance

The risk of complications during or after the procedure is very low and by joint choice of the best surgeon, we do our best to prevent anything like this from happening. Nevertheless, no doctor can completely rule out the complication. Surgery insurance makes sense and the number of patients who insure their aesthetic surgery is constantly increasing. How long does the hospitalization take after the procedure?

The length of stay in the hospital is around 3 to 7 days. Most gastric bypasses are performed laparoscopically today so surgical incisions are smaller which speeds up recovery after surgery.

After leaving the hospital you heal at home for 3 to 5 weeks before you can return to normal activities. Overall recovery takes approximately 6 to 8 weeks. Part of convalescence is also the adjustment of the diet – the first month after the procedure you receive only fluids and a small amount of soft food, over time you will slowly switch back to a solid diet.

The patient should long-term adhere to the principles of a healthy lifestyle and include regular exercise in his regimen. It is also necessary to supplement vitamins and minerals throughout life which the body absorbs less as a result of surgery.
