What is a facelift?
Facelift is a surgical procedure that primarily focuses on tightening and firming the skin, including deep structures around the middle of the face and lower jaw. Sagging, loose skin on the face causes wrinkles and fine lines. A facelift can correct this problem and give the face more youthful and healthy appearance.
Smoothing the face and neck
Facelift essentially means smoothing out the middle and lower parts of the face. Sometimes the best results require a more extensive procedure involving correction of the skin on the neck at the same time, known as a neck lift. Removing loose skin and any excess fat and tightening the subcutaneous tissue in the area gives an extraordinarily natural-looking effect. What to expect
1.Before the operation
For two weeks before the treatment avoid aspirin and other blood thinners. Minimise alcohol consumption and smoking for a few days before the procedure. Ideally you should stop smoking completely.
2.During the operation
Facelift takes place under full anaesthesia. It requires a one to three-day stay at the clinic depending on scope. The anaesthesiologist remains present during the entire procedure. You can take a sedative before the procedure begins, if you wish.
3.Post-operation
You may experience temporary swelling, lack of sensation or tightness in the skin of the face and neck. We do recommend spending the first days after the surgery lying down with your torso propped up. Cold packs to the surgery sites is also important. Facelift patients can usually return to ordinary activities after two to three weeks. More strenuous physical activity should wait four to eight weeks after the treatment.
